May with Grandma and Aunt Bobo

Here are some older pictures from early May, when my mom and sister were in town.

Perfect Pair

My friend Suzanne sent me these cute matching onesies, and I made sure to get some photos of the girls in them before they grew out of them. These are old pictures now--from May, when the girls were just three months old. It's interesting to see how much they've changed already!

Abby is on the left and Lydia on the right in the pictures below. (That's Lydia socking Abby.)

I love Abby's wide-eyed look below.

Abby on the left, Lydia on the right. They look awfully fat here.

And here they are with Josiah!

Tuckered Out

Sweet Lydia fell asleep still in possession of her ball (quite the feat with her brother around).

Five Years Later

I meant to post this two weeks ago, but Blogger gave me trouble. Our fifth anniversary is still fairly recent history, though. So as we celebrate five years of marriage, look how much has changed!

Then . . .

. . . and now!

Carwash with Pa

My parents were here together for a few days in early July. One hot afternoon Josiah helped Pa wash the Subaru. He loves anything that involves the hose and sincerely believes he's vital to the job!

In the picture below Pa is explaining to Josiah that the car has an "owie" that Josiah needs to rinse off.

Grandma's Chair

Lydia and Abby are five months old today! These girls are a joy and a delight (as is their brother). Every morning when they poke their heads up in the crib, bleary-eyed and smiley, I marvel at my privilege of being their mama. Their fat little legs and soft, chubby cheeks and tufty hair make me want to kiss and cuddle them even when they don't nap as long as I'd like.

Recently Lydia in particular squawks and complains when we leave her in a bouncy seat and move out of her field of vision--even if for a few moments. She wants to be with people! Both girls like to watch Josiah. They often smile at him as he plays. He still likes to give them overbearing hugs and kisses, and he tries to lick their heads, suck their hands and feet, poke their faces ("Eyes! Two eyes!" "Nose!" etc.), and chew on their chew toys when possible, too.

Abby is now the more dedicated thumb-sucker, though both girls like to suck their left thumbs (and indiscriminately gnaw/suck on fists, fingers, other people's chins, collar bones, arms, etc.). Both love to push up with their feet and "stand" (when held); they're getting too big for the baby swing; they like Josiah's old high chair seat; and they're more competent at scootching (sometimes with purpose) when on their bellies. I think both are teething, if drool and a propensity for gnawing are any indication.

When we were in Flagstaff, Dortha set the girls up in her papasan for a little photoshoot, and much to our surprise, Josiah wanted to join in! (Nowadays he usually resists attempts to pose him or keep him still enough to snap pictures.)

In the pictures below, Lydia is on the left and Abby on the right.

Josiah even gave spontaneous kisses for the camera! Maybe he's trying to better his image. :)

Here's Abby sucking her fingers.

And here's Lydia excited about the colorful material on the korpacha.
