Let us go then, you and I: Easter Part 1

Our Easter didn't end up going exactly as planned, since Abby started throwing up about 3 a.m. Easter Sunday, but we still mostly enjoyed ourselves as we celebrated the Resurrection of our Lord!

Jeremy's parents drove down Saturday evening and stayed through Sunday evening. Josiah was so excited to see them and was thrilled they made it down before his bedtime on Saturday. Sunday morning I stayed home with Abby (who threw up a few more times in the morning and was just so pitiful) and Jeremy and his mom and dad took Josiah and Lydia to church and the church Easter breakfast afterwards. This is the first Easter Sunday I remember missing church, but it's a good thing we didn't risk taking Abby. She would have puked on someone for sure.

Before church we let the kids see their little Easter gifts from us. Jeremy found child-sized Adirondack chairs on sale at Ace, so we got a red one for Josiah and blue ones for the girls. I put a new (well, new to the kids) book on each chair, and Josiah also got a bag of gummy-tummy candies and a little squirt bottle. The girls love the chairs, Josiah loves all the books, and he already broke the cheapo water bottle from so much use. And the gummy tummies are now gone (with help from various adults around here).

Our invited guests still opted to come over for our Easter dinner on Sunday afternoon, despite the threat of Abby's stomach bug. Jeremy's cousin Nicole took a break from her studying to come for the afternoon, and a new friend from church, Susanne, came too. We ate a sort-of-Middle-Eastern-themed meal and then commenced the egg-hunt festivities. Jeremy put two jelly beans in each plastic egg, and we were impressed with Josiah's ability to pace himself in eating them. We were not as impressed with his sharing skills.

She figured out pretty quickly that Josiah did not want her handling the eggs--especially the ones containing jelly beans. This only motivated her all the more to snatch eggs when she saw the chance!
