Thanksgiving in Flagstaff (Part 1)

In keeping with tradition, we spent a long weekend in Flagstaff for Thanksgiving. We drove up Wednesday morning but waited to celebrate Thanksgiving till Friday, since our brother-in-law Justin's parents and brother didn't arrive till Thursday evening. So we did most of our baking and cooking prep on Thursday, and we also took the kids to a park in the unseasonably warm weather.

Lydia and me

Poor Lydia scraped up her face in a fall on the sidewalk the first day we were there. (She also got pecked by the neighbor's chickens and retold the story with lots of drama and pantomime later!)

Abby and me

Lydia loved the zipline! She has some serious upper-body strength and endurance--she wanted to go back and forth over and over again.

She loves to be chased!

She also loves this hat (Thanks, Great-grandma Judy!)

Sweetheart Abby

We had warm weather the entire weekend, which was great for playing outside and getting a Christmas tree. But Josiah really wanted snow--so he was thrilled to discover a big pile of old ice from a skating rink across the parking lot from the park. Jeremy helped him stock a supply of this ice for snowballs to throw at Uncle Justin. The girls soon joined in, and all three had fun running, chasing, and throwing snowballs.

Two snowballs at the ready!
