We drove up to Flagstaff on Dec. 23rd, a day earlier than planned, because of snow predicted for Christmas Eve. When the morning of the 24th brought no snow, we were a bit disappointed--but the afternoon more than made up for it! Jeremy's dad, Jer, and I took the big kids out for a snowy hike while Clara napped. The snow kept coming thick and fast, and the kids were thrilled with it. What a fun start to Christmastide in Flagstaff!

After we got thoroughly cold and snowy, we came back inside to warm up by the fire. Grandma made the kids hot cocoa. Because of bad road conditions, the Christmas Eve service at Scott and Dortha's church was canceled. So Anna, Justin, Kezzie, and Willow came over, and Grandma let the kids each open a present that evening before bedtime. They were pretty pleased with their new stuffed animals!

Josiah got "new" Legos--really the oldest ones yet, because they used to be his Pa's!
Lydia especially liked Clara's new stuffed toy. When pressed, it says, "Your imagination can take you anywhere!" Lydia insists it says "leganation" instead of "imagination." We've had to make a law against pressing the dog's belly, since that phrase has started driving me nuts.
Clara didn't really understand about presents, but she did like methodically ripping up paper!
