We tried a winter garden this year, with mixed success. Our broccoli and cauliflower plants grew big and beautiful, but the heads didn't really develop--we just had many little sprigs of broccoli and cauliflower, some of which shot to flower too soon, some of which shriveled up, and some of which we ate. This past weekend we put in our summer garden, and so we pulled up most of the broccoli and cauliflower plants. Josiah liked plucking and eating the broccoli for the past few weeks, but Lydia enjoyed the last of the cauliflower. She's a good poster-child for our garden produce, even if it wasn't all that successful or bountiful in reality!
Abby shunned even a taste of the cauliflower, so Lydia had it mostly to herself--minus a couple bites from Big Brother
Daddy and his garden-loving girl!
A stick and some cauliflower--what more could she want?
