1. Tried his hand at photography:
2. Rode a two-wheeler!
Jeremy got home from work early on Friday, and while I was grocery shopping, he suggested to Josiah that they take his training wheels off. Josiah was eager to try his bike sans training wheels. With a little help from Dad, he was soon riding all over the yard. I was surprised to see him managing so well when I got back from the store! Jeremy said about four minutes after the training wheels were off, Josiah had got the hang of balancing on two wheels.
Meanwhile, the girls couldn't be left out of the bike action . . . Abby faithfully pushed Lydia around the yard, over the bridge, etc. for a while. They often got in the way of speedy buddy, though, who is still a little shaky in quick maneuvering.
Josiah wasn't content to stick with one clear path or area of the yard--he wanted to ride everywhere. This led to many crashes (none bad . . . yet) and calls for help with starting up again. He started himself a few times, but he's not reliably able to get going on his own.
He had lots of fun trying out the new "big boy" version of his bike. But he asked Jeremy to put the training wheels back on just before dinner. He got frustrated with his inability to start on his own and the stop-start-stop nature of this stage in the learning process. So currently his training wheels are back on--but I'm sure before another few weeks are over, he'll be comfortable on just two wheels.
